Photography is an artistic vehicle that has provided me a transformative opportunity to communicate my inner person into the world. For me, the art of seeing, capturing, communicating are intricately connected. The modes of creative visual communication of Photography, Painting and Cinema have always been one for me.
Between ages five and six, I turned from painting as my artistic expression surrounded in my home life by still and movie cameras, 8×10 news photographs and a love of history chronicled by the camera in documentary film supported by being enthralled by a photography book titled The Family of Man curated by the famous photographer Edward Steichen.
By age seven, I intuited that I could create and more successfully communicate artistically with a camera. I asked to be given a camera at age seven so I could create images as we traveled Summers across country from Los Angeles to Philadelphia to visit my grandparents. I was given my first camera at age eleven.
Speaking SPACE Articulating SPACE Capturing SPACE Communicating SPACE, ideas and feelings through the camera lens as if a paint brush to canvas has allowed me to share and chronicle moments otherwise unseeable.
My work is multi-dimensional with clear and veiled layers of autobiographical , metaphor and social statement. My work blends the genres of painting, photography and cinematography.
